Born Luther Yakanawa Cohen on July 22,1985,in Johannesburg South Africa to a Japanese mother and half Zulu/half jewish father, Master lu began his career as Luther ,at 13 presenting the award winning kids television show X-ATTITUDE-which at the time was a huge hit with the youth of South Africa and also getting international recognition when the show was awarded the international kids choice Award for best childrens show, becoming a household Name in South Africa and neighbouring african countries. Luther decided to transform his Love for Music into a reality and began work on his independant solo release "CRAZIEST LU"(1998) with 20INCH RECORDS, and using his television career as a platform to manifest his new Persona Master Lu and becoming a member of the now defunked Hip-hop crew Soundz Explicit, the young rapper was primed for Success ,being the Star of the group, Master LU opted to leave and go his own way , becoming the first Hip-hop Artist on the major label GALLO RECORDS The Hits Continued for master Lu in Subsequent years ,after releasing his Debut album on Gallo, master lu later signed to the most successful independant label in South africa-GHETTO RUFF RECORDS Forming the super group JOZI with bonganni Fassie ,the Son Of superstar BRENDA FASSIE and Award winning RNB Star Ishmael,

Acheiving international success with the group and

Pioneering a new sound and genre in HIP-HOP

Called MUTHALAND CRUNK,Gaining respect as not only an artist but also a musical genius,

and recording three songs for the award winning soundtrack to The Movie TSOTSI-the first South african Movie to win The OSCAR award for best Foreign film,

Master Lu collaborated with the biggest stars in africa,but that was not all master Lu had in mind,he moved on to work with international superstars such as the def squad and def jam signed artist,KEITH MURRAY,TALIB KWELI,MXO,and many more,touring LONDON,CHINA,TAIWAN,JAPAN,SOUTH KOREA

And Performing for The ex president Nelson Mandela at the 46664 concertalongside Ludacriss,goo goo dolls and other international acts,apart from that also opening up

for artist such as Kanye west,big bang,Jay chow,rihanna and doing seminars in Soweto with the black eyed peas

encouraging kids to follow there dreams and stay outta trouble thru education and music..

Master Lu has recorded his latest offering "Zulu Sushi" which master Lu describes as the ultimate fusion of africa and the orient in 1 dish,

blending Pop,hip-hop,rnb and rock with a new and refreshing sound which Master Lu has named hip-pop,working with producers from South korea,Usa and South africa Master lu has a sound which the world loves
